Erika Mitchell, M.Ed.
Founder/CEO

After earning a Master's in Education from the University of Southern California in May of 2019, Erika Mitchell began the process of launching an Out of School Time Servicing Agency called Discovery Club PSP.  The combined experience she's acquired after years of working in Afterschool Education and Recreation she wanted to put her talents to good use by making her expertise available to all agencies who seek assistance and resources.

Prior to launching Discovery Club PSP, Erika served as the Senior Branch Director for the Santa Monica organization of the Boys & Girls Clubs. From 2009-2017 she served as the Branch Director of JAMS Clubhouse where she managed a new, stand-alone facility at John Adams Middle School in partnership with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. During her tenure, she built and nurtured partnerships with more than 20 different firms, institutions, city departments, organizations, and clubs that support middle school students.

Erika was 19 when she started her first tutoring/recreational program called Super Saturdays where more than 100 kids participated. She continued to work with youth as she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management at California State University, Northridge, and interned at the Antelope Valley Boys & Girls Club, where she served as Assistant Executive Director.


Under Erika’s leadership, the Santa Monica organization won 20 awards that brought national recognition to the Program, led the Clubs in hosting two national BGC Contests in 2013 and 2014, and was a judge for the BGC National Honor Awards for Program Excellence in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Erika has served as a member of the Santa Monica-Malibu Educational Collaborative, the Santa Monica Youth Resource Team and as Vice-President of the Los Angeles County Parks Foundation.

Erika Mitchell, M.Ed.

Erika has extensive experience in Afterschool Education and Recreation. Prior to launching Discovery Club PSP, Erika served as Senior Branch Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs Santa Monica. Steve Richardson, Ed.D.

Board Member

Dr. Steven Richardson has been working in Title I schools in Southern California for 25 years. He has spent most of his career as an elementary and secondary principal. He has served in the capacity of Director of Extended Day Learning in a Title I district. The skills that most apply to the extended day space include social-emotional learning; nurturing and supporting highly effective teams; knowledge of curriculum and instruction; mindfulness; and employing a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion. Steve holds a Doctorate in Education.

Clinton Mitchell

Board Treasurer

With over 20 years as a business owner, he has learned perseverance is the key.   As a founding board member, Clinton currently holds the position of finance director ensuring all compliance and accounting issues are properly addressed. With an Associate in Electronic Engineering, Clinton also works for a public utility providing business support services. Clinton has spent more than 15 years volunteering with kids from all backgrounds.

Cynthia Blalock

Founding Board Member

Cynthia Blalock is the owner and operator of CB Professional Services. Her profession includes being a mobile notary and loan signing agent serving Southern California counties. She is currently the Treasurer for Centralia Unified School PTA and a founding Board member of Discovery Club PSP.  Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management.

Kiri Arrington-White

Board Member

Kiri Arrington-White over 20 years of experience with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) at the elementary level. In those years she taught grades K-3 and have been able to assist others in improving their teaching practices as a grade level chairman and a teacher facilitator of the Academic English Mastery Program (AEMP). She serves as an Instructional Coach where she frequently make presentations to the staff about various topics such as Balanced Literacy, Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) and Reading and Math Workshop models.  She has a Master of Science in Teaching.

Erika Page, Ed.D.

Board President

Erika Page, EdD - Dr. Page serves as the Vice President of Enrollment for a liberal arts college in Southern California. She has more than 20 years of corporate experience in the entertainment industry driving International Labor Standards practices with a Fortune 100 company. She is an adjunct professor of education and mentors undergrad and graduate students studying business and social entrepreneurship. Throughout her career she has worked with students both as a mentor and an advocate to assist students in achieving their academic and professional goals. Dr. Page earned her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education, her Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, and her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. Dr. Page is passionate about helping others to achieve their personal goals.

Milo Booker

Interim Board Secretary

"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it” is a guiding principle for Milo. She is Discovery Club PSP’s interim board secretary. Milo has over a decade of experience developing marketing content for small businesses. A Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration laid the academic foundation for her master in business administration coursework at National University. Her personal mission is assisting people with autoimmune diseases find jobs through the “Working While Healing” initiative.​

Michelle Smith-Ballard

Board Member

Michelle Smith-Ballard has retired after 41 years of construction experience with 20 years spent developing, administering, and monitoring community engagement programs.  After serving as an accounting clerk and supervisor for two previous companies, she joined Turner Construction Company in 1988.  Most notably, she led the community engagement team for the Turner AECOM Hunt joint venture for the construction of SoFi Stadium and YouTube Theater in Inglewood. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine.

Angela Scott, MBV

Board Member

Angela D. Scott, MBV, is a US Navy Veteran and the Personalization & Content Manager at Demonware/Activision, where she leads numerous DE&I global initiatives. The Democratic State Central Committee Assembly District 51 Delegate is an avid education advocate that serves on the Intercultural Equity & Excellence District Advisory Committee for Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, Special Education District Advisory Committee for Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, and is a founding member of the Black/African-American Parent Advisory Council for Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. The servant-leader is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
